Comparing high speed internet providers can be a difficult task if you can’t set them up side by side. It is important to determine who your local providers are and how the services they offer compare. Check for speed, and cost, as well as dependability. In some rural areas, your only choice may be satellite internet. Even that is high speed now. There is no reason to be depending on dial up any more. Most people enjoy sharing videos, sending pictures back and forth, social networking, secure functions like online banking, and more. For this, you need more than the basic speed. Don’t short change yourself for budgetary reasons, since even ultra high speed is not much more expensive than the basic package.

When looking for “high speed internet providers in my area“, you need to check on the websites of major companies to see if their service reaches you. Both AT&T and Verizon have multiple choices, and they may not all reach you. Once you’ve determined what is available there, check out the local cable internet companies, and finally, the local internet providers, and satellite internet companies. All of these offer an alternative to dial up, at a very desirable cost. Check and see if bundling internet with phone and television will save you even more money. And don’t forget to add up all the costs of rebates and add ons. Will you have to pay an activation fee, or buy a modem? Add all the costs together to see what is right for you.

Internet service providers in my area offer a maximum speed of up to 50 Mbps with Verizon FiOS. The fiber optic network is the fastest available since it eliminates distorted signals. ATT Uverse is the competitor for ultimate high speed service, but it is not in my area at present. These amazing networks of fiber optic cable are being built throughout the country, replacing copper wiring and allowing signals to travel through waves of light. It’s great having a choice of ultra high speed internet, and being able to combine it with clear telephone sound quality and a fabulous picture on my television. I do not have the latest in telephone equipment or an HDTV, but the experience with a fiber optic network is better than it has ever been.

When you set about finding “internet service providers in my area” the first thing to do is to look at the major companies, and run a search for your zip code to see if they reach you. AT&T or Verizon will connect to most households in the United States, but they will not have all services available in all areas where they are present. Then compare these to local providers. This is a great way to see what is available to you and how the different services compare.

There is quite a lot to choose from when it comes to DSL providers. You will want to compare plans, speed, cost and special promotions before reaching a decision. You’ll also want to consider the merits of DSL vs cable internet, or if you want the ultra high speed of AT&T Uverse or Verizon FiOS. The main advantage of a DSL connection besides high speed is that it goes through your phone line without tying up your phone, like dial up connections.
The need to compare is certainly true for all high speed internet. Compare the different speeds, and choose what is right for you. Most people prefer a higher speed these days due to the popularity of watching videos, downloading music, and sharing pictures. Next, look at the online promotions for rebates and free add ons such as wi-fi, modems, installation, and routers. This will give you an idea of the true cost. Finally, see if the promoted plan requires a one or two year service plan. Most rebates do have some restrictions like this.

When you compare internet providers online, it makes your choice somewhat easier. You’ll want to have a clear idea of the speed and type of service you are looking for, as well as cost and availability. It is fairly easy to determine what internet service providers are in your area, by entering your zip code on the provider’s web site. Once you’ve determined what is available to you, then it’s fairly straightforward to compare cost, service, and speed.
You’ll want to look at the major internet providers, like AT&T and Verizon, to see how they compare to your local provider. You can also find some great deals from Comcast, Qwest, and others. See if you would benefit from bundled services with telephone and digital television. This is often the way to get the highest quality service for the lowest price. Yearly contracts may apply. Also look to see if there are any rebates, or special offers for free installation or equipment.

When I considered availability… ATT Uverse is a service from the mobile giant that would be at the top of my list. They were just awarded by J.D. Power and Associates for the “Highest Residential Television Satisfaction” category two years in a row. They offer service in my area… that’s great! I then considered Price and Plans. The price was in my budget and the plan offers a whole bundle of services. Some of the services… telephone, television and high speed internet. Not to mention… DVR features and the one stop shop thing.
Incentives were the last thing I looked at. ATT Uverse currently has a special cash back offer. This would give me up to $200 dollars cash back on the plan I would select. Cash is good! And, to show how much they really love me, they will give me my first 3 months of service – FREE!!!

DSL Providers are Internet Providers that use a different type of connection that is… lightening fast. The core of DSL – Digital Subscriber Line, is a type of connection built on existing telephone wires. With that being said, streaming audio and video have found a home. Gamers no longer have to wait for Dial Up connections and the presentation is better than cable.
Internet Providers across the board will all jump on this band wagon. It’s a speed thing. DSL has the capability of carrying more information at higher speeds. It’s that simple. Think of it as a wider road! DSL can handle video, telephone and internet all at the same time. It’s the next form of technology that Internet Providers will be building upon. DSL should be in the homes of millions very soon!

Let’s just say for a minute that all features of High Speed Internet are equal. They are NOT, but for this example… we want to look at just the price. One of the biggest reasons to compare ISP’s is for saving money on your current plan. You may find that today, you no longer need the features you originally signed up for. For example – you don’t send those huge files to the office anymore. A basic service will do just fine. Or, you no longer watch streaming video on your computer… you subscribed to a video on demand deal somewhere else. Your current ISP could be offering a plan that is more cost effective with less needed features.
There are also new Internet Service Providers jumping in and out of markets all the time. You could say - it’s the nature of the beast. ISP’s are always searching for new markets to enter and new ways to expand their client base. What does this mean to you? You could find a new service provider with special promotions. These would be special promotions that are designed to get their name out there in the new market place. And, guess who benefits? That’s right… you!

Internet service providers like AT&T have some pretty good online offers this Holiday Season. Take their AT&T U-verse product for instance. Depending on the plan and area… they are giving consumers as much as $400 back! That’s strong!!! Take a look and see if they will offer the same deal in your area. You might be pleasantly surprised… as I was.
On the High Speed Internet Providers site there is a whole host of ISP’s that are offering Online-Only Deals. So, if AT&T isn’t available in your area, you should be able to find other great deals from companies like Quest, Verizon or BellSouth. Next to the ISP’s on this page is a list of states where they provide service. And, most have a fairly large foot print. So, check this list to see all the ISP’s in your area.
