Some iPod Owners May Be Involved In Lawsuit

An interesting email may be sent your way if you purchased an iPod between the fall of 2006 and the spring of 2009. The message already received by many stated that they’ve been enlisted in a class-action lawsuit against Apple. The original filing of the lawsuit occurred by one customer in January of 2005. The details of the suit involved Apple’s unfair blocking of competing music services in the form of a firmware update after the Harmony DRM service was launched. This act by Apple is said to have violated both federal and state laws, as the iPods were prevented from playing songs unless they were purchased via iTunes. As well, the firmware updates resulted in higher iPod prices. The lawsuit in question was an antitrust suit which has obviously gained much more attention, so much more that it now has its own web site that offers visitors complete details of the case.
